When Dr. Ring Ding first emerged on the scene in 1992 under his stage name, he also wrote a new chapter for European Ska. As a member of the band El Bosso & die Ping Pongs (since 1987), he had earned his stripes as trombonist and second front man. From here he moved on to the formation of the band Dr. Ring Ding & the Senior Allstars, with a new plan in mind: to put Trad-Ska back on the map – the way it was created in Jamaica in the sixties. Within the ten years of their existence, the good Doctor and his Allstars revived exactly these sounds, which were heard on numerous singles and albums, cooperations with the veterans of Jamaican music and countless performances throughout Europe.
Dr. Ring Ding is well known for his versatility as a performer and producer in the most varied of musical styles. However, a large part of his heart belongs to the Caribbean sounds of the sixties.
Now, with his new formation, the good old days are back!
The Dr. Ring Ding Ska-Vaganza consists of longtime companions of the Doctor as well as new talents - from Barcelona, Mainz and Münster - and has already dazzled music lovers worldwide. Be it with their highly acclaimed debut album “Piping Hot” or with their smoking live performances – the band knows how to blend Ska, Jazz, Reggae and entertainment resulting in a very danceable concoction. A grooving rhythm combo, a large horn section and the unmistakable voice of Dr. Ring Ding who leads the audience through a program with a good dose of humor, guarantee a sparkling performance of the highest musical standard.
Dr. Ring Ding Ska-Vaganza play mainly original compositions, but also some selected classics of Caribbean music history.
